Support the SPS CUNY Fellowship Program
Columbia University School of Professional Studies (SPS) introduced the Columbia SPS CUNY Fellowship program in 2024, expanding access to high-achieving CUNY graduates and strengthening academic excellence at SPS. Building on the success of the Columbia HBCU Fellowship program, this initiative provides talented individuals with the opportunity to further their education and professional growth.
“We are excited to launch this fellowship program for CUNY graduates,” says Dean Troy Eggers. “Aligned with the University’s mission, this program offers outstanding New Yorkers a pathway to Columbia, where they can contribute their skills, perspectives, and ambitions to our academic community.”
CUNY, the nation’s largest urban public higher-education institution, has a distinguished history of providing affordable, high-quality education. Founded in 1847 as the nation’s first free public institution of higher education, CUNY today comprises 25 colleges across New York City’s five boroughs, serving more than 225,000 degree-seeking students. “We appreciate Columbia University School of Professional Studies for recognizing the talent within CUNY and creating this fellowship program, which reinforces the importance of partnerships between public and private institutions to strengthen New York’s workforce and economy,” said Félix V. Matos Rodríguez, chancellor of CUNY.
“SPS has a strong tradition of welcoming ambitious students to Columbia,” says Zelon Crawford, senior associate dean of Student Affairs at SPS. “The Columbia SPS CUNY Fellowship program continues this legacy, creating new opportunities for dedicated individuals seeking to advance their education and careers.”
