Barbara McGloin is Assistant Director of Career Development at Columbia University’s School of Professional Studies. In this role, she uses her expertise in career development and knowledge of the communications industry to advise students seeking internships. She develops programs to ensure their successful entry and progression in the field of communications. She maintains and builds relationships with a core group of communications industry leaders and alumni to strengthen hiring relationships with the program and school. McGloin also works with the faculty to connect academic content with students’ career goals and industry requirements.
Prior to joining the School of Professional Studies in 2011, McGloin directed career management services in the M.B.A. and Executive M.B.A. programs at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and counseled M.B.A. students at New York University's Stern School of Business. She has volunteered in job readiness programs and in community-based organizations focused on teen and parent education. McGloin earned a M.A. in Counseling from the Steinhardt School of Education at New York University and a B.A. in Psychology from SUNY College at Cortland.
