Matthew Sawyer

Lecturer, Strategic Communication; Managing Partner, Rocket Market Development LLC

Matthew Sawyer is a strategic marketing and communication professional who has built brands ranging from beverage and business products to financial services and high-tech startups.

He has won many industry awards, including Gold and Silver “EFFIES” for most effective advertising and Financial Communications Society’s Gold award for best integrated marketing campaign. The Wall Street Journal wrote about his pioneering use of search engine marketing and on-line media for Pitney Bowes. BrandWeek named him a leading “Brand Builder” when he was Vice President of Marketing at Snapple Beverages.

In addition to teaching at Columbia University, Sawyer is Managing Director of Rocket Market Development LLC, a boutique consulting firm that focuses on market intelligence, Go-to-Market strategy, and effective communication. He also teaches courses on business strategy and entrepreneurship at Parsons School of Design.

Sawyer teaches Industry Insider and Practicum for the Programs in Strategic Communication at Columbia’s School of Professional Studies.
