Dino Ruta is an associate professor of human resources and sport management at SDA Bocconi School of Management, Bocconi University.
He is the scientific director of the FIFA International Master's in Humanities, Management and Law of Sports, and head of the Sport Knowledge Center at SDA Bocconi School of Management. He was the director of the Master's in Organization and Human Resource Management at Bocconi University from 2009 until 2014.
After receiving a M.S. in Management from Bocconi University, he obtained a Ph.D. in Business Administration at University of Bologna. He was visiting at University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign in 2002 and at the School of Management and Labor Relations at Rutgers University in 2008.
He was recognized for Excellent Research by Bocconi University in 2004 and 2008. His research activities are focused on organizational strategy, leadership, and sport management. He has been invited to present his research in Argentina, South Africa, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, and the U.S.
He earned an award for Excellent Teaching from Bocconi University in 2009 and 2011. He has taught numerous courses at both graduate and executive levels: Organization, Strategic HRM, Event Project and Team Management, Sport Organizations and Governance, and Sport Leadership.
He has worked for numerous companies including ABB, Adecco, Barclays, Banca d’Italia, Bosch, Iveco, Luxottica, MTV, Pfizer, Pirelli, Zurich.
He has interviewed renowned athletes and coaches including Andre Agassi, Gianluigi Buffon, Sasha Djordjevic, Felix Baumgartner, and Javier Zanetti. He has also developed a methodology as a Change Advisor, based on the Sports Life approach, delivering support to CEOs and leadership teams in aligning people and business strategy.
Recently, he published The Routledge Handbook of Sport and Legacy: Meeting the Challenge of Major Sport Events with R. Holt, (Routledge, 2015) and Leading Teams with P. Guenzi (Wiley, 2013).
