John W. Zinsser believes that increasing the quality and quantity of human communication empowers individuals and advances organizations so both can innovate, perform, and succeed. Nearly 30 years ago he cofounded Pacifica Human Communications, LLC, which specializes in the areas of conflict management, organizational effectiveness, and intercultural communication. Corporate clients headquartered in Asia, Europe, and the U.S. have engaged Zinsser to design, execute, and assess leading-edge change interventions. Today, Zinsser continues this work in the exceptional context of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Geneva, as their Chief Ombudsman. Through speaking, writing, and lecturing, he raises awareness and understanding of how to make our workplaces collaborative and inclusive environments that support individual engagement and enduring organizational sustainability.
A cum laude graduate of Kenyon College, Zinsser also holds a master’s of conflict management from the MacGregor School of Antioch University. He teaches both ombuds courses offered by the Columbia University’s Master of Science in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution program. In addition, he is certified by the Harvard Law School for Interest Based Negotiation, The Department of Justice for Mediation, and the Center for Conflict Dynamics at Eckard College for the Conflict Dynamics Profile Instrument.
