Communication Skills Employers Value Most

Communication executives demand their best new hires think critically about any communication challenge before acting. The M.S. in Strategic Communication provides you with the mindset and analytical skills these employers value most. This focus on strategy prepares you to advance your career.

Outside of the classroom, we encourage you to take advantage of our supplemental communication seminars and workshops on campus, such as the Strategic Communication Speaker Series. Participation helps further develop your skills and career advancement opportunities, and presents networking opportunities with students and alumni from the program and leaders in the field.

Who Should Apply

Most candidates have 0–10 years of professional experience in a communications role. Most applicants to the full-time option have 0–5 years of relevant work experience, which may include internships. Strong applicants are critical thinkers, with a bachelor’s degree in a field that requires analytical writing skills. The part-time option attracts candidates with a broader range of experience levels in the communication field. Successful candidates with less than 2 years of full-time professional experience have strong internship experience.

An outstanding undergraduate academic record is required for admission, regardless of experience.

The program demands a serious commitment of time and energy. Successful students can manage their time adeptly, cover a substantial amount of course material weekly, and sustain disciplined study habits throughout the term.
