Technology Management
Master of Science in Technology Management
The M.S. in Technology Management at Columbia University’s School of Professional Studies is a hands-on technology leadership development program designed to train professionals for equal fluency in tech fundamentals, business operations, and ethical leadership. Our cohort-model — offering both full-time and part-time pathways for early-mid career professionals as well as executive-level practitioners — creates communities that connect students, faculty, alum, and industry leaders across New York City’s thriving tech sector.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
Columbia’s MS in Technology Management program is built on the belief that technology practitioners are best equipped to succeed — in every sector, organization, and product or service — through the principles, practices, and habits of mind of ethical leadership. Our curriculum suffuses this foundational concept in every course and is embodied by all our faculty.
Our program recognizes technology as the most significant transformative force of our time, fundamentally altering global markets, organizations, and communities; opening new opportunities and amplifying risks; disrupting established industries and institutions; and changing work, the workforce, and societies. Technology’s emergence as a foundational system throughout every sector requires new competencies, requirements, and definitions of leadership.
HOW WE WORK
We view iteration as a feature not a bug of our program: our curriculum is built on continuous improvement and deployment that equips our students with strong foundational concepts in technology, finance, and operations as well as practical knowledge in emerging technologies and sustainable economic models that serve a global user base. In so doing, our graduates emerged equipped to design, execute, and communicate with vision, strategy, and empathy.
We foster a learning environment that mirrors the collaborative and community-oriented culture and practices of the broader technology profession. We teach through a scholar-practitioner model, with rigorous coursework, hands-on training, and extensive engagement with the world-class resources of Columbia University in the City of New York as well substantial engagement and on-site experiential engagement with senior leaders of among the most influential and innovative technology operations in the world.
Led by a faculty and program team of industry-leading practitioners, our students and graduates join a community of over 1,000 alumni in an atmosphere of continuous improvement and development in personal and professional growth.
