Yordy Arana

Lecturer; Senior Project Manager, Gilbane Building Company

Yordy Arana is Senior Project Manager at Gilbane Building Company and has over 28 years of professional experience in the delivery of CM at risk and Design/Build projects.  These projects have included implementation of Owner Project Requirements (OPR), trade contractor management, cost control and scheduling methodologies, master planning, programming, A/E design contract administration, architecture and interior design, corporate strategic planning, and construction field inspection.  He currently works as Gilbane’s Senior Project Manager in charge of several Life Science/Health Care projects in New York city for NY Presbyterian’s Columbia/Weill Cornell Hospitals and the NYU Center for Neural Sciences.  Mr. Arana obtained his MS in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia’s GSAPP in 1990. After graduation, he traveled extensively in the former communist bloc countries in Eastern Europe as a recipient of the W. Kinne Travelling Fellowship conducting research on his proposed subject, Spaces of Revolution: Relationship between Architecture and Pro-Democracy Movements.  After completing his Travelling Fellowship, he worked in Barcelona, Spain in the design/building of the Juan Carlos I Hotel, the first open-atrium building in mainland Spain. After completing his BArch from Tulane University in 1986, he worked in Philadelphia for Mitchell Giurgola and was involved in the design of the US State Department Foreign Affairs Training Center, a national design competition.  Mr. Arana has been involved w/ Columbia’s CNAD since summer 2016 as guest lecturer on the subjects of construction/project management and Construction Scheduling. He is Licensed Architect, member of the AIA and USGBC.
