Dr. John Lorenz
Dr. John Lorenz is the director of clinical research in the division of neonatology and a professor of clinical pediatrics at Columbia University Medical Center. His research focuses on quantifying the long-term outcomes of the extremely premature infant and exploring the effect of differences in the application of intensive care on these outcomes. He also researches how varying methods of presenting relevant information to parents influence parental decisions regarding the initiation/continuation of intensive care.
Lorenz is a member (and past chair) of the Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital-Presbyterian Ethics Committee, and a member of the Columbia University Medical Center Ethics Committee. He followed his residency at Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati with a fellowship at the University of Cincinnati.
Lorenz received his M.D. from the University of Cincinnati in 1976.
