Will McGuinness brings a wealth of expertise in digital strategy, social media, and integrated marketing to the Information & Knowledge Strategy program at Columbia University. With over a decade of experience in both academia and the corporate world, he currently serves as an Associate Faculty member at Columbia University, where he supports "Leading Collaboration" to aspiring information and knowledge strategists. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor at New York University School of Professional Studies.

McGuinness has a track record of innovative leadership in various roles, including Director of Social Media & Digital Strategy at 2U Inc./edX. His approach has consistently led to remarkable growth, including achieving "LinkedIn Top Voice in Education" status and expanding reach and engagement metrics by significant margins.

One the course of his career, McGuinness has made substantial impacts on digital and social media strategy in various organizations. Notably, during his tenure as the Global Social Media Lead at Latham & Watkins, he directed cross-platform awareness strategies, achieving remarkable audience engagement. He has also played a pivotal role in elevating Columbia University's digital presence as the Director of Marketing and Digital Initiatives, leading successful campaigns, including fundraising initiatives and high-profile conferences.

A former journalist, McGuinness honed his editorial prowess and leadership skills during his tenure as Senior Editor at The Huffington Post, directing editorial operations for the publication's education and higher education sections, overseeing in-depth reporting on critical issues such as sex assault reporting practices, school shootings, and national education issues during the 2012 national election. His journalistic acumen and commitment to informing the public have continued to influence his career, as he brings a unique perspective to his teaching and digital strategy roles, bridging together the worlds of academia and media.

McGuinness is a 2018 graduation of the Master of Science in Information & Knowledge Strategy program from Columbia University, where he was recognized as the Class Standard Bearer. His academic achievements also include a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where he was recognized with the Dean’s Medal for service to the University.

Beyond his professional pursuits, McGuinness is committed to giving back to the community, evidenced by volunteer roles on various boards and councils, including serving as a Board Chair for the Boys & Girls Club of Fall River, MA and as a member of Columbia University's Alumni Advisory Council.

He lives in Miami Beach with his partner, Andrew, and a Brittany Spaniel named Ellie.
