Victor de la Peña
Victor H. de la Peña is Founder of the Undergraduate Actuarial Program at Columbia University. He was also the first Director and Co-Founder of the Master of Science in Actuarial Sciences at Columbia. De la Peña is a past member of the Academic Implementation Task-Force of the Society of Actuaries and has served as a corresponding member of the Casualty Actuarial Society. In addition, he has been Co-Director of the Applied Probability and Risk Seminar and Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS) since 1999. In 2007, de la Peña delivered a prestigious Medallion Lecture for the IMS.
De la Peña has been instrumental in the broadening of the participation of groups under-represented in science through his past involvement as a Member of the Advisory Board of Minorities for the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute and various other activities.
