Academic Integrity & Community Standards
Columbia University expects that its students will act with honesty and propriety at all times and will respect the rights of others. It is fundamental University policy that academic dishonesty in any guise or personal conduct of any sort that disrupts the life of the University or denigrates or endangers members of the University community is unacceptable and will be dealt with severely.
Academic and behavioral infractions carry severe penalties. Plagiarism, for example, whether or not it is intentional, can result in a failing grade on the assignment and in the course. For degree candidates, this would mean immediate dismissal from their program of study.
Allegations of academic or behavioral infractions can be reported through the Student Conduct and Community Standards website, which also details the University policies and procedures that pertain to these issues.
