Courtney Canfield

Lecturer; Electrical Contractor, Substation and Transmission Construction Group, Consolidated Edison

Courtney Canfield is a third-generation electrical contractor who brings 41 years experience in a variety of roles in the heavy construction industry. He spent the early years of his career working as a groundman, heavy equipment operator and lineman for Mid-West Line Builders while attending college, and after graduating went to work as a construction estimator and project manager. In 1983, Canfield founded and served as president of C. L. Canfield Constructors, Inc. The firm provides services in heavy electrical construction, traffic signal, and highway lighting systems. C. L. Canfield was also one of the first firms to become heavily involved in the installation of intelligent transportation systems. Since relocating to New York City in 1997, Canfield has served in project management roles on projects that include Times Square Tower and Grasslands Substation. Canfield served as safety director for the electrical contractor on both the NYPA 500MW and the Astoria Energy 500 MW power plants in New York City. In addition, he has been a New York City site safety manager and is a L.E.E.D. Accredited Professional.

In addition to earning a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in construction administration, Canfield is also a graduate of N.Y.U.'s construction management program.

Canfield is currently employed by Consolidated Edison in the substation and transmission construction group.
