Explore Information and Knowledge Strategy Through a Free Online Preview

Get a view into Information and Knowledge Strategy (IKNS) at Columbia University through a new online preview course, Collaborative Knowledge Services, with Dr. Ed Hoffman, NASA Chief Knowledge Officer and Columbia Information and Knowledge Strategy M.S. faculty member.

You can complete the on-demand course free of charge in as little time as 90 minutes or at your own pace. Through a series of videos, slideshows, polls, and readings, the course will cover three collaborative knowledge frameworks:

  • Communities of Practice Leadership

  • Lessons Learned and Tacit Knowledge Elicitation

  • Storytelling as Knowledge Activation

Each of these complements other knowledge practices taught in the IKNS program, such as intranets, business analytics, legal, data visualization, digital product innovation, and social network analysis.

The preview course focuses on how leading practitioners use community interaction and storytelling to discover and activate knowledge, and engage an organization in a participative knowledge journey.

Dr. Ed Hoffman, Columbia faculty and Chief Knowledge Officer at NASA, will share part of his IKNS course Building Effective Knowledge Strategy and Services as well as content from IKNS Academic Director Kate Pugh’s course Networks and Collaboration.
