Ray Katz is co-founder and chief operating officer of Collegiate Sports Management Group (CSMG). CSMG is a collegiate properties group that drives the business performance of college athletic conferences and schools, providing them with a successful growth strategy, and generating revenue to support their athletic departments and initiatives. CSMG specializes in marketing and media rights, revenue generation, content creation and distribution, strategy and negotiation, sponsorship sales, licensing and eSports.
Katz is a seasoned veteran with over 25 years in the industry and is frequently referenced in leading media outlets including Bloomberg, Thompson Reuters, Associated Press, and the like. He has diverse experience working for The National Football League, Young & Rubicam, The Lord Group, The Walt Disney Company and Madison Square Garden. His expertise ranges from sports marketing disciplines including sports media and sponsorship to research and analytics.
Prior to founding CSMG, he served for 4 years at Source Communications as Executive Vice President, heading up new business and analytics. Before that, he was Managing Partner at Optimum Sports for six years. Prior to that successful venture, Katz worked as chief marketing officer and senior vice president of sales for The Football Network. His previous entrepreneurial venture was initiated in 1999 when Katz founded Smartix International, a ticketing, eCommerce, and loyalty company.
