Prasad Kodali

Lecturer; Managing Director and Head of Non-Financial Risk Management, SMBC

Prasad Kodali is the Managing Director and Head of Non-Financial Risk Management at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Americas Division (SMBC). In this role, Prasad leads the methodology and frameworks setting of Operational Risk including areas such as Information Technology, Cyber, Third-party and external fraud risk management.

Prasad served as Head of Risk Management for commercial banking businesses at CIT, where he oversaw the risk-management frameworks, monitoring, governance and teams. Prior to that role, he was the head of Operational Risk and was responsible for design and implementation of the Operational Risk Management, Third-Party Risk Management and New Activity process and governance at CIT.

At Morgan Stanley, Prasad built the operational risk measurement framework that included policies, procedures, systems and statistical models. He also built the Basel II Advanced Measurement Approach (AMA)-based operational risk regulatory and economic capital models for all areas of Morgan Stanley.

He also worked at BNP Paribas, where he developed hedge-fund trading systems and Algorithmics, where he built credit-risk models and systems. He started his career in the software industry building products for aerospace manufacturing, network infrastructure, and e-commerce.
