Owen Lau
Executive Director and Senior Analyst, Oppenheimer & Co
Owen Lau is Executive Director and Senior Analyst in the equity research department of Oppenheimer & Co. and leads the coverage of exchanges, information analytics and asset management. Owen conducts fundamental research, financial statement analysis and due diligence of senior management to support investment recommendations. Prior to joining Oppenheimer & Co. in 2015, Owen covered the consumer finance and regional banks at Janney Montgomery Scott. He is part of the team that ranked as the #2 and #1 stock picker in Consumer Finance in 2014 and 2015, respectively, and #2 stock picker in Banks in 2018 by Thomson Reuters. Prior to equity research, Owen had substantial industry and international experience in the financial institutions and financial technology sector with S&P Global, Barclays and HSBC.
Owen received an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School where he was awarded the Dean’s Graduation Honor (top 25%). He also obtained a Master of Science in computer science from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, where he was also awarded Dean’s List Honor. Owen holds the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma.
In his leisure time, he plays golf and table tennis.
