Maryam Navaie

Lecturer; Chief Global Strategy Officer, Advance Health Solutions

Dr. Maryam Navaie is a professional with nearly 30 years of experience working in the healthcare industry. Her notable employment history includes: current role as Chief Global Strategy Officer at Advance Health Solutions; immediate past President and Chief Executive Officer as well as Senior Vice President at Advance Health Solutions; Executive Director for the New York State Department of Health; Vice President of Research Services at Hackensack Meridian Health Systems; Evaluation and Research Administrator at Stony Brook University Medical Center; various academic and research positions at the University of California Los Angeles, the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, and Hofstra University; senior leadership positions at community-based, nonprofit health service organizations including the Visiting Nurse Service of New York and Scripps Memorial Hospitals in La Jolla, CA; and senior management positions in health economics and outcomes research at Pfizer, Inc.

Throughout her distinguished career, Dr. Navaie has served as an expert consultant to pharmaceutical and medical device companies, government entities, nonprofit organizations, and multiple academic medical centers across the U.S. and abroad. Subsequent to serving as a Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator of more than 250 clinical and epidemiological research studies, Dr. Navaie has accumulated extensive experience managing clinical trials (Phases I-IV), observational studies, health services research and health economic studies. Her experience spans working with a wide range of populations (adults and children) and clinical conditions examining physical, psychological, and emotional health outcomes; disease-specific outcomes (metabolic, infectious diseases, oncology, orthopaedics and sports medicine, pain management, and palliative and hospice care); health-related quality of life; and health economics associated with service utilization patterns and costs of home and community-based services, managed care initiatives, long-term care, and chronic-disease management. For her professional contributions, Dr. Navaie has received numerous leadership, scientific and research awards.

Dr. Navaie has authored nearly 250 publications including peer-review journal articles, book chapters, abstracts and technical reports, with wide application to translational research, program design and implementation, health markets, and healthcare practice and policy. She currently serves as a peer-reviewer for 12 prestigious medical, public health and policy journals internationally. In addition, she is an active member of more than 30 professional national and international organizations, serving at a leadership capacity on boards of directors, task forces and specialty committees.

Dr. Navaie graduated valedictorian from New York University’s Stern School of Business in New York City where she completed her MBA with triple specialization in strategy, marketing and leadership. She received her Doctor of Public Health, summa cum laude, with emphasis in population health, epidemiology, and health economics from the School of Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She further completed her Master of Public Health, magna cum laude, in epidemiology and population health from the University of California Los Angeles. Dr. Navaie also holds undergraduate degrees in biochemistry and French literature from the University of California San Diego. She is multilingual with fluency in French, Spanish, Farsi, and English.
