Lecturer; Director Enterprise Operational Risk, CIT Bank
Hafsteinn Gislason heads the Enterprise Risk Self-Assessment framework (ERSA) at CIT Bank and is responsible for the development and continuing conversion of related risk elements into the cohesive framework. He has 13+ years of experience in non-financial risk management in financial institutions, focusing on the development, implementation, and execution of Operational Risk and Enterprise Risk programs.
Gislason has had several speaking engagements at non-financial risk conferences focusing on shared taxonomies, frameworks, and increased utility of the Operational Risk programs.
Gislason got his start in Risk Management during the banking crisis in Iceland where he was allowed to manage the implementation of the Operational Risk framework. He moved to New York in 2014 to accept a role in Operational Risk at CIT Bank. He and his team of growing risk professionals have led various risk programs and most recently led the development of the ERSA and stress testing.
Gislason is a GARP-certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM).
