Lecturer, Sustainability Management; Chief of Staff, the Earth Institute and the Columbia Climate School
Alison Miller is currently the Chief of Staff at the Earth Institute and the Columbia Climate School. She was most recently the Deputy Director for Management of the Earth Institute, where she managed day-to-day operations. She is also the Associate Director of the Research Program on Sustainability Policy and Management, where she engages in research related to organizational-level sustainability issues. Prior to Columbia, Miller worked as a business development associate for an asset management firm. She has written about climate policy, sustainability metrics, and management. Miller is the co-author, with Steven Cohen and William Eimicke, of the 2015 book, Sustainability Policy: Hastening the Transition to a Cleaner Economy. She has taught courses on applied sustainability science, urban sustainability, sustainable development and sustainability management and policy. In 2014, she was selected as one of City & State’s 40 under 40 Rising Stars in NYC Politics & Policy. Miller received her MPA in Environmental Science and Policy at Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) and her BA in Economics and International Relations from the University of Delaware.
