Courses in Business Communication for Non-Native English Speakers

In today’s competitive business environment, effective communication and a strong command of English are essential to career advancement. Columbia University’s Business Plus offers non-native English speakers an opportunity to improve oral communication and writing skills while taking courses in business, science, or math. Students work closely with Columbia faculty to improve their ability to communicate more clearly and confidently in professional contexts.

Business Plus (Fall & Spring)

Applicants must have a TOEFL iBT score between 85 and 99, a minimum SPS/ALP level of 7, or a minimum IELTS score of 6.5.

During the fall and spring semesters, Business Plus students take two required communication courses and two quantitative courses.

1 semester

Business Plus (Summer)

Applicants must have a TOEFL iBT score between 85 and 99, a minimum SPS/ALP level of 7, or a minimum IELTS score of 6.5.

Business Plus Summer students take a combination of one English course and one quantitative elective. 

1 semester

Timing

Fall Semester: September 3, 2019 to December 20, 2019

Summer: Business Plus is also available during Summer Session 2 with a different combination of communication and quantitative courses, and a different list of quantitative courses. Please visit the Columbia Summer site for details and admissions.
