P&G and JPMorgan CIOs Join Technology Management Program as Lecturers

Filippo PasseriniDana Deasy

Filippo Passerini, Group President, Global Business Services and Chief Information Officer for Procter & Gamble, and Dana Deasy, the Chief Information Officer of JPMorgan Chase & Co. effective this December, have joined Columbia’s Executive Master of Science in Technology Management program as adjunct lecturers.

Under the title Executive in Residence, each CIO will lecture in several courses of the program. Passerini will address staying relevant in a VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous) business world, the subject of his address at the program’s CIO Forum in September. Deasy will speak about managing risk and delivering IT during a crisis, his focal topic during the CIO Forum in October.

“The Executives in Residence are a new method to integrate information and knowledge, and create a unique experience for our students," says Arthur Langer, Associate Chair of Faculty Affairs, Support, and Development, and Academic Director for the program. “So as opposed to taking a course on these topics, they’re concepts that get intertwined in the various pieces of our curriculum. The Executives also bring forth in our program certain aspects of leadership and integrate what’s going on in the business world.”

He says the group of Executives in Residence will grow to include additional "highly accomplished executives who want to teach and have a nontraditional relationship with the University."
