Peter Richards Biography

Peter Richards is GBAM CTO responsible for end-to-end, strategy, architecture, design, build, and operations of the technology infrastructure that supports the Global Banking and Markets business. Additionally as the executive for the Enterprise Midrange Platform he is also responsible for Midrange Server Product across the firm. This service includes evaluating and defining customer-centric infrastructure solutions for the lines of business across the enterprise, for example the GRID computing and Big Data offerings. Additionally, his teams provide infrastructure design and support to the 478 TI owned applications.

Mr. Richards has worked in the financial services industry for the past 23 years. In 2008 at J.P. Morgan, he was responsible for the architecture, engineering, and the appropriate use of the distributed platform which includes servers, storage, database, application server, and application messaging services for the business units of the firm. He was Chief Technology Officer at Bear Stearns. Previously he built and ran the Core Infrastructure Group at Goldman Sachs, where he provided common technology services to the firm across three continents. During his tenure at Goldman (1990-2004), he also served as co-head of Enterprise Technology, co-manager of the Equity Derivatives Development Group, and manager of the Japanese Equity Warrant Development Group.

Peter graduated from University of Bristol with a degree in Physics.
