Dr. Alison Walling is the Founder of Walling & Associates. As a consulting practitioner and Columbia certified executive coach, she provides leadership and talent development programs for organizations including Bristol Myers Squibb, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, Columbia Business School and Marsh & McLennan Companies. Dr. Walling is a core faculty member on Columbia University’s Coaching Certification Program. She is also an Instructor at Columbia University for various courses such as the Strategic Advocacy course for the Master’s in Technology Management Program, Columbia Business School’s Essentials of Management Program, Columbia Business School’s Coaching Certification Program, and Emotional/Social/Cultural Intelligence courses for Columbia’s Organization and Leadership graduate program.
Prior to founding Walling & Associates, Dr. Walling has designed and delivered training and development programs for Goldman Sachs and Columbia Business School. She also served as the Assistant Director for the Samberg Institute of Teaching Excellence at Columbia Business School where she advised on strategic, management and evaluative planning and execution to improve the effectiveness of classroom content and delivery.
She received her doctorate and master’s from Columbia University, where her dissertation focused on Executive Coaching and Client Outcomes. She presented her research at the 2014 First International Columbia Coaching Conference. Dr. Walling’s research has also focused on Team Learning in Organizations as well as Adult Romantic Attachment Styles. Her awards include New York University’s Hillary Citrin Memorial Prize for outstanding honors thesis in psychology and the NYU President’s Service Award. Her dissertation was nominated for the American Educational Research Association award.
She enjoys helping non-profits and ministries serve the community. Outside of work, she enjoys painting and playing guitar.
