Owen Lau

Owen Lau is Director in the equity research department of Oppenheimer & Co. He conducts fundamental research, financial statement analysis, and due diligence of senior management to support investment recommendation. His coverage includes large cap commercial and investment banks, private equity asset managers, and business development companies. He was part of the team recognized as the No. 1 and No. 2 stock pickers in Consumer Finance in 2015 and 2014 by StarMine.

Lau also had substantial international financial, risk management and operational experience with S&P Global, Barclays and HSBC.

Lau currently serves on the Board and is a member of the Finance Committee of Asian Americans for Equality (AAFE), a nonprofit organization committed to preserving affordable housing and to providing new opportunities for diverse immigrant communities. In his role, Lau provides financial oversight and governance, and advises the organization on strategic planning, financial statement analysis, and budgeting.

In addition, Owen is Treasurer and Board member of AAFE's Community Development Fund. Lau is also actively involved in and supported programs organized by Robin Hood Foundation, including Board Placement Program and best practice sharing on effective nonprofit board governance.

Lau received an MBA from Columbia Business School where he was awarded the Dean’s Graduation Honor (top 25%). He obtained a BBA from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Lau holds the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma.

In his leisure time, he plays golf and table tennis.
