Murray Nossel: Five Times To Be a Better Listener

Master of Science in Narrative Medicine faculty member Murray Nossel, Ph.D., was recently featured in Self describing key points from his new book, Powered by Storytelling: Excavate, Craft and Present Stories to Transform Business Communication.

After receiving a Ph.D. in social work at Columbia University, Dr. Nossel worked at an AIDS clinic. That’s when “I realized when my patients told me stories about what happened to them, I learned a tremendous amount about who they were, what their values where, and how their experiences shaped their lives,” he told Self.

The article focuses on what Dr. Nossel’s career has taught him about listening as an active skill, vital not only to medical practice, but to all relationships.
