Narrative Medicine Rounds: Dance for PD, Mark Morris Dance Group
Sep 03, 2013 - 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Alumni Auditorium, Columbia University Medical Center, 650 W. 168th St.
Narrative Medicine Rounds are lectures or readings presented by scholars, clinicians, or writers engaged in work at the intersection of narrative and health care. Rounds are held on the first Wednesday of each month (September to May) from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Columbia University Medical Center Faculty Club, followed by a reception. Rounds are free and open to the public; no RSVP is necessary. Students, staff, faculty, patients, friends, and interested others are warmly welcome to join us.
This edition of Rounds will feature David Leventhal, member of the Mark Morris Dance Group from 1997 to 2010, and program manager and a founding teacher of the group’s Dance for PD program. A collaboration with the Brooklyn Parkinson Group, Dance for PD offers weekly classes for people with Parkinson’s at the company’s studios in Brooklyn, fosters similar classes in more than 40 communities around the world, and presents regular training workshops for teachers interested in leading Dance for PD classes.
