Sharon van Zweiten
Sharon van Zwieten is a television news executive with more than 30 years of experience that includes marketing, public relations, corporate communications, and print journalism. She holds a BA from the University of Michigan, a Masters of Journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and her Masters of Business of Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Ms. van Zwieten worked in local television news as a reporter, assignment editor and producer with positions across the United States and in Asia. She held leadership positions at CNBC and ESPN in Singapore and CNN in Hong Kong, Atlanta and New York. She has supervised coverage for world-changing events including 9/11, in addition to wars, elections, and other special events. Proficient in Spanish, she joined Univision in Miami, where she was hired to help its dedicated sports channel. She held other positions in New York with Tribune Media and CBS News before joining WRNN-TV, where she currently oversees editorial output for Verizon-sponsored hyperlocal channels in Hudson Valley, Long Island, and New Jersey.
Outside of the broadcast world, Ms. van Zwieten has written for publications including The Economist and the South China Morning Post. She also consults a portfolio of enterprises on their digital communications and social media strategies.
