Peter Cai is Chief Risk Officer of Global Atlantic, a life insurance company founded at Goldman Sachs in 2004 and separated as an independent company in 2013. He is responsible for oversight of enterprise-wide risk management functions, including governance, processes and analytics. Cai has 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. More recently, he was a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley, where he led a global team responsible for measuring, stress-testing and reporting risk across all business segments. He also worked as a Fixed Income Risk Strategist for Lehman Brothers and was head of consulting for Askari Risk Management, a boutique firm specializing in risk management for hedge funds, pension funds and sovereign wealth funds. Cai holds a doctorate in Materials Science from Pennsylvania State University and obtained his bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics from Fudan University in China. He is also an adjunct faculty member at Carnegie Mellon University’s MSCF (Master of Science in Computational Finance) program.
