John Rusk

John Rusk is the owner and president of Rusk Renovations, Inc., a high-end residential construction company doing business in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens for over 20 years. His firm is highly rated in the Franklin Report’s ratings of high end residential contractors for both their traditional and modern work. Rusk Renovations won a Lucy G. Moses Award from the New York Landmarks Conservancy for his contributions to historic preservation. Through his second corporation, Constructive Decisions Inc. he serves as an empanelled arbitrator and mediator for the American Arbitration Association and has resolved construction disputes ranging from several thousand dollars to twenty eight million dollars and often designs and teaches workshops and seminars for AAA members, law firms and architectural practices on mediation techniques, controlling risk and ethics. Rusk is the author of On Time and On Budget, a Home Renovation Survival Guide (or How to Make Allies of Your Architect and Contractor), published by Doubleday in 1996, and has written a popular newspaper column, has appeared on the Today Show, and his work and advice has appeared in the pages of many magazines and newspapers, including the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Elle Décor, Newsweek, and House and Gardens. Rusk has also taught at Parsons School of Design. He holds a B.F.A. degree from Carnegie Mellon University, studied negotiation at the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School through Radcliffe Seminars.
