Rebecca Shaffer has been teaching online courses for the past five years. She believes many students often begin an introductory course with preconceived notions about accounting. Shaffer thinks her job is to help students see the relevance of accounting concepts in both their personal and professional lives. She brings accounting to life by providing real-world examples so students can more fully understand the subject matter.
Shaffer spent the first five years of her professional career working for Ernst & Young. During this time she conducted audits for a public accounting firm. She also worked in tax consulting department. Shaffer has spent the past six years in a corporate tax department focusing primarily on income tax and accounting. In addition to working full time she has been teaching online courses for the past five years.
Shaffer earned a master's degree in accounting from the University of Virginia and a master's degree in taxation from Robert Morris University. Her undergraduate degree is in finance from Penn State University.
