Information Session: Programs in Bioethics

Feb 12, 2019 - 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Event will be held online

Columbia University’s Programs in Bioethics include a Master of Science degree that is available in three formats: on Columbia’s campus in New York City, fully online, and in a hybrid format that combines online and face-to-face study. Also available are an online Certification of Professional Achievement and individual online noncredit courses. All options are designed to ground students in the historical, philosophical, legal, and social-scientific approaches and models to address bioethical challenges.

Students study with faculty from across the University, drawing on the extraordinary resources of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, the Mailman School of Public Health, and Columbia’s Department of Psychiatry. Through on-campus elective coursework, students may study with faculty from the schools of Law, Journalism, Nursing, International and Public Affairs, and Arts and Sciences. Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit is available for any program option.

During this information session, Academic Director Robert Klitzman, along with other program representatives, will define bioethics and illustrate the field with examples, discuss program options, and describe the program experience and outcomes.
