Mary Pickett is the Director of the American Language Program. She has worked in the ESL profession since 1993, as a teacher, teacher-trainer and administrator. She has taught in Italy, Germany, Ecuador and the United Kingdom, as well as in the US. She has been a teacher-trainer and assessor for the University of Cambridge CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching for Adults) and has trained more than 400 teachers in North America and in South Africa. She holds a bachelor’s degree in German and Art History from the University of Nottingham, UK, a Diploma in English Language Teaching (DTEFLA) from the University of Cambridge and a Master’s in TESOL from the Institute of Education, University of London, UK. Her research interests are in English as a lingua franca and World Englishes.
