The Rhythm of English
Nov 14, 2014 - 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Columbia University, Fairchild Hall, Room 601
This event is only open to new and continuing students
A 90 minute workshop in which an ALP instructor reviews some of the key features of the sound on English and points out characteristics of rhythm, stress and intonation which may differ from your native language. We will examine some common pitfalls certain speakers may experience in using English as a Second Language, and helpful strategies in improving comprehensibility and intelligibility. We hope that you will come away from the workshop with some practical ideas on how to make your spoken English clearer and easier for others to understand.
