Build organizational strategy and drive growth, productivity, and impact through information management and collaboration.

Columbia University’s Master of Science in Information and Knowledge Strategy is a program for business leaders across all sectors, designed to help them align business strategy with knowledge strategy, and to design and build information and collaboration products that drive growth and enable success. The program leverages interdisciplinary strategies and draws on a strong network of scholar-practitioners who have defined the knowledge practice field and pioneered its practice.

Upon Graduation

Organizations are looking for leaders who can help them drive profitability, growth, market share, and brand by bridging fragmented information and organizational silos. Graduates will be able to:

  • Craft a knowledge strategy that influences, and is influenced by, the organization’s choices about where it competes, how it wins, and how it sustains competitive advantage.
  • Design knowledge practices or products to solve specific business objectives, such as efficiency, scale, growth, or agility.
  • Build information management (info architecture, analytics program) process practices and technology to meet strategic objectives.
  • Build collaboration (across teams, units, organizations) processes, practices, and technology to meet strategic objectives.
  • Mobilize stakeholders by diagnosing change obstacles and facilitating, managing, and measuring change in the organization’s capabilities and overall operating ecology.
  • Understand key legal issues relating to information governance and collaboration (including security, privacy, intellectual property, compliance, and disposal), and craft a strategy that appropriately balances opportunity and legal risk for knowledge practices and knowledge products.
